Mentalizing training, is a therapeutic approach designed to help us to make sense of our own thoughts, feelings and intentions, as well as those of others.

Mentalizing plays an important role in building relationships and this training can help to promote trust, learning and collaboration in your everyday practice.

This training aims to strengthen one’s capacity to see beyond surface behaviours and develop a deeper understanding of the thoughts and emotions that drive actions.

Key goals of mentalizing training include:

Understanding mentalizing: What it looks like when you are mentalizing

The characteristics of ineffective mentalizing: Recognising when mentalizing goes offline

Building empathy and perspective-taking: Improving the ability to step into another’s shoes

Developing tolerance for uncertainty: Becoming comfortable with not knowing everything about others’ thoughts or feelings.

Improving interpersonal effectiveness: Enhancing relationships by reducing misunderstandings and increasing compassion
